Foothills Senior Golf League

Rules & Regulations for Foothills Senior Golf League

General

  1. USGA rules are in effect at all times. Find official USGA rules HERE
  2. Any rules requested by golf course management will apply.
  3. There is a maximum of four players in a group.
  4. Carts with handicap flag may drive the cart close to but not on the tee box and green. On holes with cart only restrictions, the handicap cart may drive on the fairway. Carts should never be driven in the native rough.
  5. DO NOT climb fences to retrieve "out of bounds" golf balls.
  6. DO NOT climb fences near Federal prison property on hole 2 and 8 of the executive 9 hole course.
  7. DO NOT climb fences to take a short cut to the next tee box.
  8. Keep carts out of all native grass areas.
  9. Repair ball marks on the green; replace divots in the fairway.
  10. If you are driving a golf cart use the sand and seed bottle contents liberally to cover divots.
  11. Rake sand bunkers. Note exception for Covid-19.
  12. Golf course management rules state that only one cart is permitted for two golfers. Note exception for Covid-19 social distancing.
  13. Three carts are not permitted for a foursome. Please observe this rule. Note exception for Covid-19 social distancing.
  14. ANY MEMBER OF FOOTHILLS SENIOR GOLF LEAGUE MAY BE CENSURED OR EXPELLED FOR GOOD CAUSE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT, VULGARITY, VIOLATION OF RULES, OR ANY CONDUCT WHICH RESULTS IN ADVERSE REFLECTION ON THIS CLUB. FOOTHILLS GOLF COURSE WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS NOR WILL THE SENIOR LEAGUE.

FHSGL

  1. League play will not be canceled because of inclement weather. The only time we will not play is if the golf course is closed.
  2. In the event you are unable to play, please login to fhsgl.org and click on "Cancel Play". This lets the golf course know you will not be playing.
  3. If on the day of play, you are unable to play, please call the starter for Exec 9 or Pro Shop for Par 3. The number is 303 409-2400. Also go to fhsgl.org and click on "Cancel Play".
  4. Please score all member players on the same score card, which is printed for your group.
  5. Do not include your putts on the score card that is turned in at the end of round.
  6. At least 50% prior attendance is required to be eligible for championship tournament prizes.
  7. "Gimmies and mulligans" are not allowed. You must putt out on every hole.
  8. Women will use the forward tees and men the white tees.
  9. The maximum score is 10 for a par 4 hole and 8 for a par 3 hole. When you have reached the maximum, log that score on the score card for that hole, pickup the ball and proceed to the next hole
  10. For any shot off the tee requiring “stroke and distance” penalty (out of bounds, lost ball), you are hitting 3 off the tee. For tee shots into the water or heavy weeds on Exec 9 (holes 1 and 2) or Par 3 (holes 2, 5 and 7) where a drop area is provided, do not try to fish the ball out of the hazard; you will be hitting 3 from the drop circle/area. Exec 9 hole #1 drop area is between red and white stakes on the 150 yard line. Exec 9 hole #2 drop area is on the other side of the bridge. You are hitting 3 from either of these drop areas.
  11. If a player plays a ball in a direction where there is a danger of hitting someone, immediately yell "fore" to warn them.
  12. Rounds that are not played due to the golf course being closed may be rescheduled, if possible, on a future play date.
  13. If a player suspends play for any reason during a round; for instance weather, accident, home emergency etc., the player may go back on the course later that day to continue playing when circumstances permit. Please check with the starter for a new tee time before returning to complete the round. This applies only if the round is completed on the same day before cards are picked up. It would be best to finish a hole before suspending play.
  14. The board reserves the right to prevent the golfer from future league tee times if there is a problem with repeated, unexcused cancellations.

Score Card Recording Responsibilities

A. Scorer:

  1. Make sure each hole for each player is scored legibly in the correct scorecard column and line, using your Group’s pre-printed FHSGL scorecard.
  2. Collect and enter hole scores from each player after each hole is completed, but only after all group players have cleared the green area for the next foursome.
  3. Politely challenge any player's reported score if it does not seem correct.
  4. Add the scores and enter the total in the proper column for each player.
  5. Make sure that no nonmembers are scored on the scorecard.
  6. Make no extraneous entries in the card scoring area. (e.g. don’t enter putts or intermediate totals)
  7. If your Group’s pre-printed FHSGL scorecard is not available for scoring, use a standard Foothills scorecard. Make sure “FHSGL”, your Group number, date, and the Players’ names are clearly indicated on the card. All other scorecard responsibilities still apply.
  8. Sign the scorecard as Scorer.
  9. Get someone to check the card and sign as Attest; preferable another player in the foursome, but at least a fhsgl member.
  10. Make sure your Group’s card is submitted to the clubhouse drop box immediately after play.

B. Attest:

  1. Verify that each hole for each player has a legible score recorded.
  2. Verify that each player's total is recorded on the correct line.
  3. Verify the scorer's addition for each scorecard line.
  4. Sign the Scorecard as Attest.

C. Player:

  1. If at all possible, don’t play as a single. Join another threesome or less.
  2. It is recommended that each player verify that their scores are recorded accurately for all holes and on the proper line before they leave the group at end of play.
  3. If you are playing outside your normal Group, you must enter your scores on a standard FootHills scorecard. Make sure “FHSGL”, your Group number, date, and name are clearly indicated on the card. All other scorecard responsibilities still apply. Make sure your card is submitted to the clubhouse drop box immediately after play.
  4. Even if you play only several holes and do not finish the day, the score card should be signed before it is submitted. Unfinished rounds will not be scored or considered for play day game winnings. Turning in an unfinished card tells us that you did play that day, but did not finish.

D. Score computer recorder:

  1. Any player who has no score recorded for any individual hole will be scored as "Did not Finish". No numerical scores will be entered into the computer system for that person. The scorer, attest and the player involved will be notified to be more careful in the future.
  2. If it is determined that any players' scores are recorded on the wrong line (under the wrong name), that player will not be eligible for any winnings for that day.
  3. Any score total recorded that is obviously incorrect (legible but with simple addition error) will be corrected upon computer entry, if possible.
  4. If an individual hole score is judged to be illegible, determining that score using the total score will be attempted. If that is not possible, the player will be scored as "Did not finish" and no scores will be entered for that player.
  5. Any scorecard without Scorer or Attest signature will be disqualified. No scores will be entered for players scored on that card.
  6. Any player judged “Did not finish” or “Disqualified” by the score recorder will be notified by email. To encourage future improvement, the Scorer and Attest for that Group will also be notified by email. However, recorded scores will not be changed. The player may appeal to the entire board.
